Though not directly into product identification and marketing, the YMCA identifies a few items which are special to the
region and has certain social relevance. Upon request, the Store department can arrange purchase of the items directly from
the producers, in large or small quantities.
The items currently on our list are:-
- Mountain Fresh Nilgiri Tea Dust- non blended- Pekoe Dust and PEKOE which would cost you approximately
INR 100/- per Kilogram, depending upon the current market.
- Forest Fresh Honey: Non standardised, from forests in and around Wayanad-Bandipur-wild
life sanctuaries. This would cost you approximately INR 120/- per Kilogram (roughly a beer bottle full)
- Bamboo Window Blinds.

For arranging these items, the YMCA thanks the local tea manufacturers from
The Nilgiris, and the members of the various Tribal communities in and around Sulthan Bathery and Wayanad in Kerala.
Supply of the items is related to the L E A P S programme of theYMCA.[Local Economy Assistance and Providence Scheme is envisaged to help self supporting students
from Schools or Colleges.]
